About PhysioNatal
Tanya is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience supporting women through pregnancy, postnatal recovery, and persistent pain.
After qualifying in 2001 and serving in the Army, she founded Copford Physiotherapy in 2013 before later creating PhysioNatal® to provide specialist support for women and their unique health needs through pregnancy, birth, recovery, and beyond.
Becoming a mother herself in 2008 transformed Tanya’s understanding of women’s health. Despite being a physiotherapist, she was surprised by how little guidance she received about recovering from pregnancy and birth — physically, emotionally, and functionally.
In three pregnancies, no one checked her abdominal recovery, explained pelvic floor rehabilitation, or helped her understand what was normal after having a baby. Like many women, she expected to simply “bounce back.” That experience shaped the direction of her work and led her to deepen her professional training beyond traditional physiotherapy alone.
Over the years, continuing study, advanced hands-on training, and clinical experience have enabled Tanya to develop a more holistic and compassionate approach to recovery. Her additional training includes Visceral Manipulation, Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing — helping her support not only the physical body, but also the nervous system, stress responses, trauma, and the deeper patterns that can contribute to pain and dysfunction.
Tanya’s work is grounded in the belief that healing is possible and that women deserve to feel informed, supported, and confident in their bodies again. She is passionate about helping women understand what they are experiencing, know what is normal (and what isn’t), and feel reassured that there is a way forward.
Her goal is to help women recover from pregnancy and birth, return to the activities and exercise they love, and feel more comfortable, capable, and at home in their bodies again.
